Fluid Mechanics

Course Project

For this semester, you will be required to complete a course project. This project is focused on addressing the ABET outcome that graduates will have knowledge of contemporary issues in the field.

Contemporary Issues in Fluid Mechanics

For this option, you will develop a 2-3 page overview of a contemporary issue in fluid mechanics. Specifically, you need to select a topic in the area of fluid mechanics in sports. This could focus on a research effort, something under development (R & D) or a more applied topic in the area that might already be in production, but either way, it must be a contemporary issue; the sports topic must be something researched or developed in the last 10 years and must focus on fluid mechanics or aerodynamics. You can look at journal articles, conference papers, technical magazine articles, etc. If you are unsure about a certain topic, check with me.

This will be on an 8.5×11 page, Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1” margin. You likely will want to include at least one graph, photo or image in your document. You have a 3-page limit as the MAX (including references). Make sure to list ALL references used to develop this summary – this can be documents and/or web sites. Note that this needs to be written in your own words – not cut and pasted from web sites. If you plagiarize your paper, you will get a zero on the project. If you don’t know what plagiarism is, please see me. Please use the following header for your paper. The “Topic Title” should be specific to your topic.
