The question is : – Course Reflection

Answer the following questions in your thread:

  • Did this course cause you to      change your mind or opinion about anything related to HSEP? If so what?      Why or why not? Maybe something was reinforced. If so, explain.
  • What was the most important      thing you learned in this course (an “aha” moment maybe) and      why?
  • Based on all you have learned      in this course and the entire HSEP program what do you see as this      country’s biggest threat or challenge presently and in the next few years?

Please read the Self/Partner Evaluation. I answered all the questions but I need you to edit the answers and put all of it in paragraph one page please

1). Explain the process of organizing your lesson. When did you meet?  How did you communicate? What was effective/ineffective?

We made a google doc to put the information on it and the outline. We met every Friday evening around 8 pm and we stayed around two hours. We used a google hangout video to talk with each other and share the ideas and discussed the plan process. Everything was great we had not any problem everyone in the group engaged with other and support each other ideas.

What did you (You personally, not your group.) do well? Focus on how you were able to work with others, communicate effectively, and solve problems.

I actually I was very engaged with the group. I was always there when they wants to meet. I always check the google doc to make sure If someone add anything or edit anything so it helped me to be on track on our plan. We did not have any problem in our group even if someone had an idea we would try to make it fit in the plan so nobody will be sad.

What would you do differently/change for next time?

I would not change anything because everything was perfect.

What did your group do well? What didn’t go well in your group? What role did each group member play in the process of developing and executing the presentation?

The most perfect thing in our group that we understand each other and we support each other ideas. Everyone did great on the work. Actually we did not have each had specific roles.  We sit together and we did plan together each part together so we can make sure that we are on same page and everyone knows all the part for the plan instead of being only know one part that if you only do one part.

Was this a worthwhile experience? Explain.

Yeas definitely this was a worthwhile experience to know more about media literacy and how social media can effect young generation and how we can engage with young generation

The overall purpose of this task is for to you demonstrate that you are able to justify and critically analyse your own practice in relation to social work law, knowledge, skills and values relating to: social work methods and models of intervention; ethical dilemmas; inter-professional challenges and/or dilemmas; risk and resilience; research; and/or evidence based practice. You must accurately reference your work throughout.

Provide a critical reflection on a piece of work you have undertaken with an individual, family or group. Include brief references to the PCF, legislation, and relevant literature to support your discussions and evaluate your learning, and include a reference list.

  • Provide a brief introductory paragraph regarding the event/case, including the main reason for the agency’s involvement.
  • Outline how you assessed and planned your work
  • Outline what interventions you actually carried out and why
  • Include a critical evaluation of your understanding and use of professional judgement and autonomy.
  • Discuss and evaluate how you assessed and managed risk
  • What skills, methods and approaches did you consider or apply to your practice
  • What helped you to reflect on your practice and development
  • Include the challenges and dilemmas you faced and how you addressed these
  • Reflect on what you learnt about yourself (self-awareness), your skills, your values, and your resilience
  • What future learning needs have you identified and how will you address these

.

I need to write a critical reflective piece of work about a young person in placement in the leaving care team.

I previously had contact with this young person when I was on placement last year in a foster agency. This young person was on my caseload then and on my final placement I have the young person on my case load in the leaving care team.

This young person and her family have been known to social services since 2005. The issues surrounding social services being involved is round the young persons mum not being able to cope with the young persons behaviour. The young person has been diagnosed with ADHD and ODD and her childhood has been challenging with her presenting aggressive and violent behaviours.

Initially after leaving her mothers home the young person went to live with her grandparents but her behaviours became too much for the grandparents and they asked for social services to intervene. At this point the young person was self harming as well and the grandparents did not feel that they could keep her safe.

The young person was eventually accommodated under a section 20.

The young person has had two foster placements break down due to her behaviour and when I met her she had been placed in a new foster placement. The young person has displayed signs of aggressive behaviours verbally and physically but she seemed t overcome these, she was able to speak to both foster carers and the problems seemed to get resolved. The young person was attending college and had a new girlfriend, which could be quite volatile at times. Whilst I was in placement the relationship did become a bit fraught and at one time it seemed like the placement was going to breakdown due to her behaviours.

When my placements was finished the placement seemed stable and the young person seemed to understand about the behaviours that she was displaying but she was able to control them.

When starting my second year placement I cam across this young person again and was informed that the previous foster placement where I knew her from had broken down and she as wit new foster carers and had been there for about eight weeks. The previous placement broke down due to volatile behaviours and I believe that the foster carers felt that they were no longer able to cope with the young person. When I went to meet the young person again I could not believe the change that I witnessed. This young person was full of confidence and was very happy with life in general. She was very happy with her new foster placement and felt like she fitted in as part of the family. This young person was more than happy to talk to me about what she had been doing and what she had achieved and this was a huge contrast compared to the previous year when conversation was very hard to get out of the young person.

This young person was extremely positive about her future and was keen to tell me what the involved and how she was going to achieve it. This was lovely to see. Obviously the other placement just wasn’t right for the young person but this placement I feel is going to be extremely beneficial to this young person and will also help her grown towards her own independence and eventually being able to live n her own independently.

Outsourcing Compliance and Governance of Ethics in Healthcare Organizations

Healthcare fraud, questionable ethics and corporate misconduct has rapidly escalated in the 21st Century. This growth in non-compliance and business failure is a response to the high-profile governance failures resulting in reciprocal regulatory reforms (Andresisovi, 2016; Golinkin, 2013; Othman et al., 2015).  The Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services provide reimbursement to long term care organizations for the elderly care underscores the necessity of compliance personnel connected to corporate compliance for the development, operation, and supervision of compliance programs (Jaeger, 2015; Mulcahy, 2016). Some long term care organizations respond by the execution of Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer (ECO), while others outsource parts or all of Compliance and Ethics Program. The role and objective of both organizational approaches is to help ensure employee ethicality, legal behavior and response to outside legitimacy challenges faced by corporations. An effective ethics and compliance program fuels and supports the advancement of an organization culture of shared responsibility, and compliance. Governance of ethics practices preserve the connection between internal business ethical requirements, expectations, and external organizational reputation.

Statement of the Problem

Compliance may not be a source of generating revenue but it remains a key avenue for the management of risk and potential noncompliance that result in unavoidable expense to the organization. The problem is outsourced compliance and ethics programs have less locus of control over procurement fraud and healthcare fraud involving services and billing due to restricted accessibility to an internal compliance professional and limited ability to maintain compliance infrastructure ( Bird & Park, 2016; Recker, Yale & Denton, 2012). Healthcare organizations noncompliance with regulatory policies result in firms facing leadership scandals, sanctions, collapsed business strategies, brand and reputation loss (Collins, 2015; Golinkin, 2013; MacLean, 2015). Outsourcing compliance is a business function associated with delegating compliance activity to an external entity versus an internal compliance department. While outsourced compliance and ethic services may be cost effective, the remote nature of the evaluation, and monitoring function may result in a disconnect between formal corporate policy and the influence on individual ethicality during ethical point of decision activity. Corporate ethicality is described and clarified in the context of standards of business conduct, codes of conduct, ethics training and reporting ethical performance. The objective of organizational governance of ethics is to increase the locus of control between formal ethics policy and actual business conduct (Deloitte, 2013; Jaeger 2015; Jarvis, 2012).  The connection suggests the need for intimate working knowledge of the actual core business operations, flow of business obligation and responsibility practices, beliefs, norms and ethical environmental values. There are no government stipulations that mandate in – house compliance personnel. This proposed study would provide a useful contribution to healthcare leaders understanding the critical factors that limit the effectiveness of outsourced compliance programs in development of compliance infrastructure to reduce corporate misconduct.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of the qualitative grounded research is to understand the influence of organization governance of ethics in long term care corporations that outsource compliance and ethics responsibilities. The phenomena under study is the locus of control outsourced compliance and ethics program exert on governance of ethics to avoid non-compliant behavior.  The grounded design is an optimal study approach related to the descriptive procedures that support multiple stages of data collection for the emergence theory based on opinions of the participants (Creswell, 2014; Fraenkel, Wallen, & Hyun, 2012). The specific population under study is corporate leaders, field department leaders, and employees. The sample population is a mix of 30 corporate leader, field department leaders, and employees. Multiple forms of data collection are used as an evolving method to fulfill the purpose of the research using observation, document reviews, open ended surveys, interview protocols, and focus groups. The research will take place in a setting that the long -term care corporation has been charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for healthcare fraud.  The gap in research is the discovery of critical factors that link formal governance of ethics processes to employee decisions that lead to ethical misconduct when the organization has outsourced compliance and ethics.

CEE 213—Deformable Solids The Mechanics Project
Arizona State University CP 3—Properties of Areas
1
Computing Project 3
Properties of Areas
The computing project Properties of Areas concerns the computation of various properties
of cross sectional areas. In each of our theories (i.e., axial bar, torsion, and beams) we arrive
at a point where we need certain properties of the cross section to advance the analysis. For
the axial bar we needed only the area; for torsion we needed the polar moment of inertia;
for the beam we will need moment of inertia of the cross section about the centroid of the
cross section.
We can develop an algorithm that allows the computation of all of the properties of a cross
section if the cross section can be described as a polygon. The algorithm is built on formulas
for the properties of a triangle. What that program will do is create a triangle from the
origin and the two vertex nodes associated with a side of the polygon. Whether this polygon
adds or subtracts from the accumulating properties will be determined from the vectors
defining the sides of the polygon (see the CP Notes for further clarification). If you loop
over all of the sides, the end result will be the properties of the entire cross section.
The general steps are as follows:
1. Develop a routine that allows you to describe the cross section with a sequence of
points numbered in a counterclockwise fashion starting with 1. The last point
should be a repeat of the first one in order to close the polygon. Some suggestions:
a. Store the (x,y) coordinates of each point in a single array x(N,2), where N
is the number of points required to describe the cross section (including
the repeat of the first point as the last point) and the first column contains
the x values of the coordinate and the second column contains the values
of the coordinate and the second column contains the y value.
b. It will eventually be a good idea to put the input into a MATLAB function
and call the function from your main program. That way you can build up
a library of cross sectional shapes without changing your main program.
c. If you need a negative area region (for a cutout section like in an open
tube) then number the points in that region in a counter-clockwise fashion.
Just keep numbering the vertices in order (no need to start over for the
negative areas).
2. Develop a routine to loop over all of the edges of the polygon and compute (and
accumulate) the contributions of the triangle defined by the vectors from the origin
to the two vertices of the current side of the triangle (that gives two sides) and the
CEE 213—Deformable Solids The Mechanics Project

2
vector that points from the first to the second vertex (in numerical order). Calculate
the area, centroid, and outer-product contributions to the properties (see the CP
Notes for clarification of this issue).
3. Compute the orientation of the principal axes of the cross section using the eigenvalue
solver in MATLAB (eig) on the moment of inertia matrix J. See the CP
Notes for more information on this task.
4. Create an output table (print into the Command Window) giving the relevant cross
sectional properties. Develop a routine to plot the cross section. Include the location
of the centroid of the cross section in the graphic (along with lines defining
the principal axes if you can figure out how to do that).
5. Generate a library of cross sections, including some simple ones (e.g., a rectangular
cross sections) to verify the code. Include in your library as many of the following
cross sections as you can get done:
a. Solid rectangle with width b and height h.
b. Solid circle of radius R.
c. Rectangular tube with different wall thickness on top and bottom.
d. I-beam with flange width b, web depth d, flange thickness tf, and web
thickness tw.
e. Angle section with different leg lengths and leg thicknesses.
f. Circular tube with outside radius R and wall thickness t.
g. T-beam.
6. Use the program to explore aspects of the problem. For example,
a. Why is it more efficient to use an open circular tube for torsion rather than
a solid cylinder?
b. For beam bending we can control deflections and reduce stresses with a
large moment of inertia about the axis of bending. Show the trade-offs
available in an I-beam when you can select different web and flange depths
and thicknesses. What is the ideal allocation of material? Why would we
never actually do that in practice?
c. Demonstrate that the principal axes of a symmetric cross section lie along
the lines of symmetry. You can do this by showing that the off-diagonal
elements of J are zero for symmetric sections with axes so chosen.
d. Explore any other feature of the problem that you find interesting.

Analyze the financial performance of your firm and, using historical financial statements for the last 5 years. Examine any relevant trends within your company over the past five years and compare your firm’s performance to the industry wherever possible. Focus on ratios that seem most relevant to the firm/industry, although you should look at ratios in each of the ratio groups. Since the definitions of some ratios vary by source and since sources such as finance.yahoo.com often combine numbers to simplify things, you need to calculate these ratios yourself. Morningstar provides this data in downloadable format for the past five years. Consequently, while the above analysis should be discussed in a text document (not more than two pages), you should also turn in ONE spreadsheet that includes:

  1. A copy of the balance sheets and income statements from Morningstar for your company for the past 5 years. Ratios should be calculated directly within this spreadsheet, using cell formulas linked to the financial statement data, so that we can see exactly how each ratio is being calculated.

  1. Some data is occasionally missing from the Morningstar download, in which case you might have to verify data in the company’s annual reports.

  1. Include DuPont analysis for your firm

  1. The definitions of the ratios that you used.
