include your answers, analysis, code, reasoning and the key steps, for instance the tables/plots produced by
R. Simply writing down the solution earns 0 point (3) Plagiarism is not accepted. Any similar homework
will get zero point.
Q1 [15pt]
Suppose you want to estimate the seasonal effect on the revenue. There is a constant term included in the
regression as usual. How many dummies are needed to perform such analysis?
Q2 [20pt]
Use the data in gpa2 and GPA2_description for this exercise.
1. Using all observations and regress colgpa on hsperc and sat.
2. Reestimate the model using only the first 2,070 observations
3. Find the ratio of the standard erros on hsperc from 1. and 2. what do you find? why?
4. Add female, verbmath and their interaction terms into the regression using all observations.
Q3 [20pt]
Load package ggplot2 and type data(diamonds) to load the data set. The definition of table and depth
can be found in the following picture
1. A diamond’s quality can be measured by cut, ordered by Ideal, Premium, Very Good, Good, and Fair.
Create dummy D1 to represent Ideal and Premium, and D2 to represent Very Good and Good.
2. Regress price on carat, depth, table, D1 and D2, all interactions terms between dummies and quantitative
variables (carat, depth and table). Interpret your result
Figure 1:
1
3. Create a random sample of size 1000 from the diamonds data. Draw the scatterplot of carat vs log(price),
color coded by cut.
4. List the distinct categories of color. What is their ordering?
Q4 [45pt] (Just Answer the Question; No R Command)
According to past series of Bond films, the average number of people that are killed by Bond shows substantial
variations among different Bond actors, as shown in the following graph. In particular, Pierce Brosnan ranks
#1 on this list. To study whether the revenue of the film are affected by the number of people that Bond
killed, we performed regression analysis on the available data set. The data are based on 23 past Bond films
with all the 6 Bond actors. For each film, we have information on the adjusted worldwide gross (in 1000
dollars), the average rating (on a 1-10 basis with 10 being the best), rating, film budget, the number of people
Bond killed and others killed in each film, bond actors and the year of the film. To start with, we build up the
following model to see if the number of people that Bond killed in the film would affect the worldwide gross,
Where log(gross) is the logarithm of the worldwide gross, Bond kills is the number of people that Bond
killed in the film, Pierce is a dummy variable indicating whether the Bond actor is Pierce. The following
table shows the estimation results.
Table 1:

Answer Q1-Q4 using the regression results above.
1. Does the number of people Bond killed significantly affect the worldwide gross at 5% level? Interpret
the estimated coefficient of Bond kills.
2. Interpret the estimated coefficient of Pierce.
3. Is the regression overall significant at 5% level?
4. What does the adjusted Rˆ2 measure?
2
Suppose you believe that the decade of 1990’s is the booming age for Bond films, so you include a time
dummy variable decade90 into the model.
Table 2:

5. From the above results of model 2, why do you think the dummy Pierce becomes insignificant?
3
Now suppose that you run a new model with the interaction term Bond Kills:Pierce, which equals to the
product of dummy Pierce and variable Bond kills.

6. Interpret the estimated coefficient of Bond Kills:Pierce. Comparing model 1 and 3, do you think it
is a good idea to include the interaction term? Why
4
Now we turn to study the effect of Bond kills on the average rating, which ranges from 1 to 10. Considering
that each of the actors may appeal to specific group or specific generation of audiences, since each of them
may represent different time and style, we include several dummy variables in the model for each actor.
Moreover, we believe that not only does Bond kills matter, the number of people killed by others (for
instance, the supporting actors) also matters.
7. Interpret the estimated coefficients of Bond kills and Other kills. Comparing the estimated
coefficients for Bond kills and Other kills.
8. Which actor is the base category?
9. According to the estimates (ignoring significance at this moment), who was the best and who was the
worst at boosting the ratings among the 6 Bond actors?

Read the article, “Do Lay Christian Counseling Approaches Work? What We Currently Know” by Garzon & Tilley (2009) provided in this module/week. Also incorporate Clinton & Ohlschlager (2002) Chapter 18, Lay Helping, from your text into your answer.

Garzon & Tilley (2009) provide a review of recent research on the effectiveness of a variety of lay counseling approaches. While the authors note that there is some empirical (research) support specific approaches, they also identify a general need for further study on the effectiveness of lay counseling. Based upon your reading of this article and information from Chapter 18 of the course text, please respond to each of the following questions:

• Why is it important to conduct empirical studies on the effectiveness of lay counseling?
• How might research on existing lay counseling approaches be used to further develop and improve the care that churches and Christian ministries are providing?
• How might you be able to partner with your local church, or another Christian counseling organization to produce some basic validation of current lay counseling approaches?

Reflect on how these life experiences will impact you in your role as a counselor. Think about how certain interactions in your past could cause difficulties as you begin counseling. Will it bring up too much or make you uncomfortable to work with them‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌?

H‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌ospital corporation of America- HCA is the healthcare id like to use…. A. Analyze how business practices, regulatory requirements, and reimbursement impact patient-centered care within a healthcare organization. information- As a nursing leader, you’ll need to have a basic understanding of how things like regulatory requirements, business practices, and reimbursements drive patient and family-centered care. Let’s break it down by each of those sections. Regulatory requirements: concepts to explore in this section would be how the agencies protect patient safety, patient satisfaction, and encourage facilities to deliver high quality care. You might want to discuss CMS no-pay events or CMS value-based purchasing. A Joint Commission survey is one way that organizations can meet the CMS participation requirements but not the only way. What you want to look at is how the Joint Commission standards are also based on patient safety, patient satisfaction, and the quality of an organization’s care delivery. Regulatory requirements could also include state nursing licensure requirements. Not just anyone can practice as a nurse. They need to go through a certain amount of education, pass an NCLEX, and register with the state. Could you see how that would enhance patient safety? Business practices could mean a lot of different things, so think about what types of business practices might impact patient and family-centered care? How about things like visiting hours, the ability for family members to be present during codes, or the ease in which patients could get access to their medical records? Other business practices might be the policies written that capture some of those safety standards that need to be met in order to get CMS payments. For example, a policy on the proper way to insert a foley catheter to decrease the risk of a CAUTI (catheter associated UTI). Or fall prevention. Or, a policy that requires nurses to keep up on their licensure and certifications. Reimbursements can also impact patient and family-centered care. We know that a lot of attention is being paid to patient satisfaction through the use of surveys such as the HCAHPS survey. Take a look at how those scores might impact CMS reimbursements. Also, how might an organization’s reputation in the community affect how many patients come to their door? What about the types of services that a community needs and an organization’s ability to provide those services? Would that impact the financial viability of an organization and drive patients to the door? Those are all concepts that you’ll want to explore in this section of the task. It is important to make sure you discuss each of the three aspects mentioned in the rubric (business practices, regulatory requirements, and reimbursements) and how those concepts impact patient and family-centered care B. Complete the attached “Patient-and Family-Centered Care Organizational Self-Assessment Tool” (PFCC) for a healthcare organization. Write 1 paragraph in which you describe your facility including size, services, etc. Write a second paragraph in which you describe the population served by your hospital, including prominent ethnic groups. Also, discuss the community – ie population size, urban vs. rural, etc. Note: The PFCC tool is a subjective tool used to assess the organization you have chosen. 1. Describe the healthcare setting you used in the PFCC. 2. Using the completed PFCC tool, describe the strengths and/or weaknesses of the organization for each domain. C. Identify one area of improvement from the weaknesses identified in part B2. C. Area of Improvement Once you have completed the PFCC and have identified a strength and weakness for each of the 11 domains, you will now choose one of the weaknesses and identify it as the area of improvement. It is important that you have narrowed this down to 1 element from 1 domain and identify the element and domain in this section of the paper. C1. Improvement Strategy Because you will provide a detailed explanation of your improvement strategy in D3 of this task, you only need to give a broad overview of the strategy in this section. Your improvement strategy will include the formation of a multi-disciplinary team. Keep this specific. Your strategy will coincide with the area of improvement noted in C. C1a. System Theory or Change Theory If you or I were to make a majo‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌r life change, we would likely go through a process to realize the need for the change, research our options, make the change, and have it become a habit. Just like people, organizations also go through a process to embrace a new way of doing things. Change theories and system theories help explain how an organization will go through a process to adapt to a new change. For this area of the task, you will need to pick one change theory or one systems theory. Describe it a little bit and explain how you, and your multidisciplinary team, will apply that theory to help your organization go through a change process that is related directly to the strategy that you are suggesting. You might consider using a 2 column table for this section of the task. In the first column you could list and describe the stages or steps of the theory. In the 2nd column you could then describe how you would apply each step to y D. Create a multidisciplinary team by identifying the following: You will want to pick 4-6 people to be on your team. Remember, even though an entire discipline (such as nurses) might be a part of your strategy, it would be impossible to have a team meeting with the entire nursing staff. So, you’d want to send a representative to provide the perspective of nurses. When you choose team members, you’ll want to make sure that they bring a specific value to the team. Don’t put anyone on your team just to have them there. They should have a task that makes sense for their role and for the strategy you are implementing. Identify the member (for example, IT) and the value they bring or the role they will play for this strategy. D1. Team Diversity Remember that the goal of this task is to improve patient and family-centered care. An important component of that is understanding the voice of our patients and their loved ones. Having an understanding of the cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity of our patients and colleagues is an important part of ensuring that their voices and perspectives are heard. You will want to include a discussion of the importance of having cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity on your multidisciplinary team. Why would this benefit the team itself, and how does that spill over to benefit patients and families? D2. Leadership Theories As the team leader, you’ll want to motivate your team to implement this change strategy. To do that, you will need to discuss one of the four options given in your task instructions. Identify one of the four theories that you feel would apply best to the culture of your organization, your personal style, and the needs of your team and strategy. Discuss the leadership theory and describe how you would apply the theory to motivate your team to implement this strategy. D3. Implementation Strategy This will be the nuts and bolts of your plan. You can’t be too detailed here. Starting from filling out the PFCC tool and recognizing the need for change, describe all the steps that you and your team will take to implement this strategy. You will want to discuss what your team will do together, but you will also want to detail what every member of your multidisciplinary team will do to help. If they showed up on your team in Section D, then you will want to have a specific task for them in D3. The plan should be specific to your strategy so I would avoid being vague about your ideas. This section tends to be at least a full page depending on the strategy. D4. Communication to the Organization You will need to communicate your intended outcomes to your facility-not just administration. You’ll also want to discuss the major steps of your plan. How will you do that? You will likely be including several different forms of communication (face-to-face meetings, policy briefings, emails, bulletin boards, newsletters, etc.). It’s important to understand that you’l

F‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌or the case selected (see case below, after instructions), you will act as a manager and provide a written report on the following: a. Identify what is the problem, in great detail, in the vignette (Explain why it is a problem). b. Provide research on 2 similar situations/cases that have occurred in the workplace (news articles, case studies, and the like). You will report on how these similar situations were resolved. c. You will also provide an in-depth report on your action plan (or how the issue in the vignette should be resolved). This part of the report should be strategic and extensive, providing a step-by-step process. d. Finally, you should provide 2 obstacles that could potentially impede your action plan in being successfully implemented. e. You will need 6 total sources, the 2 similar cases and 4 other sources, (THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE CASE ITSELF) cited in your report Be careful with just “googling” information and you MAY NOT use Wikipedia as a source. You may use it so you can get back knowledge on your topic, but not as one of your 6 sources. Your research report must be at minimum 6 pages (doubled-spaced) in length. f. You should use paragraph format and present research that backs your answers. You will also need to include a work cited (reference page) and a title page. g. Your paper must be in APA format: doubled-spaced, in-text references, spelling and grammar check, and in font of Times New Roman 12, Calibri 12, or Arial 11). The Case is- Partnership: The Unbalancing Act The Meeting ( R: is Rande) and ( J: is Jonas) R: Hey Jonas, how you doing? J: Pretty good. R: I’m so glad you came. J: Oh yeah, no problem. R: You know I called you three times today. You know I was a little nervous. J: Oh yeah, well understandably too, but you know I’m happy to be here. R: I’m glad. Listen, we have to talk. We are coming into an untenable and uncomfortable situation. J: I know that I haven’t been handling my end all the time, but… R: What can I do to help you? J: I don’t need any help really. I think that everything as it is is OK. I just need to; you know how everything at home is quite busy for me. R: You have missed several meetings; you didn’t show up when we had our accounting manager come. Please, this is hard for me. Confrontation is one of the hardest things on the planet, especially with you. J: I don’t really see this as confrontation. I’m sorry if I missed that meeting. I am. I just had my own things to do. R: But to just not show up? J: I felt comfortable that you were there. I felt comfortable that you could handle it. R: That’s great except you never told me you weren’t coming. Plus you missed the payroll – twice. J: I talked to everybody about it and I was able to alleviate their concerns, they know they are going to get paid. R: How? J: Because I they know they are getting paid and I missed the deadline, and I apologized to all of them and we worked it out. I’m fine, they’re fine and it won’t happen again. I just feel that I can get all the work done; it just may not be as structured as we are talking about. I think it will all get done anyway. R: I’m afraid that is not true Jonas. Because all getting done means I’m doing it. And I can’t handle anymore. I am totally stressed out here, and what I’m not getting from you is any sense of caring either for me or for the business. I don’t see you making any kind of commitment. J: Well I am doing the books; I am taking care of the payroll; I am taking care of the shipments in the bookstore; I am doing all that stuff. It’s not like, you are starting to make it sound like I’m just sitting here not doing anything. I’m handling a lot of the work and I know you’re handling a lot of it R: You are, but I’m handling everything that you are not handling. J: Listen, I have to pick up Isabelle. I do want to talk to you more about this, but I have to… R: Can we pick this up this afternoon? J: Well yeah, yeah. If not this afternoon, I’ll call you tonight and we will talk more, or I will come over. We’ll manage it. R: OK. R: Jonas, I’m so glad you’re here. J: I’m happy to be here Rande. R: OK, so what kind of solutions have you come up with? J: We’ll one of the solutions, this is just an idea, take it as you will. I love this booksto‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌re and I want to keep it going and it want it to be as big as it needs to be, as great as the community wants is to be. In thinking that, I have talked it over with Peggy and I think we have decided that the best thing for everybody concerned and to keep our relationship together, which of course, you know I want. And I know you want. I think that I should be able to bow out gracefully and sell my share. R: I really applaud that decision. J: But the thing is that I do want to be able to sell it to who I want to sell it to. I think I can get a good amount of money for my share because of the way that they business is growing. And I just want to make it clear to you that I would like to be able to sell my share to who I think would be the best buyer for my share. R: Well this person wouldn’t be your partner; this person would be my partner. J: I understand you would have to meet this person. R: Jonas, you can’t just find someone, anyone. What I need to do is have total say on who is my partner. J: Well it is my share, and I would like to be able to make what I can from it. R: I agree I want you to be able to make something from it, but Jonas… J: I am going to be able to work of this money. This is my future in a sense. R: Jonas, I get first dibs on buying you out, not another partner. J: But you can’t buy me out. R: Oh, but I can. I have already spoken to our attorneys because I didn’t know what you were going to come back with and since you didn’t show up for the meeting 3 days ago, I spoke to Marcel. J: You can’t buy me out because I am legally allowed to sell it to the highest bidder. R: No that is not how our contract reads. Unfortunately there is no dissolution agreement. And in partnership agreements, one partner has the first right of refusal. So it’s up to me first to see if I can raise the funds to buy out your share. J: I’m not exactly sure about the legalities that you are talking about, and I don’t want to argue with you about it because I don’t know. The truth is that I don’t know the exact things. But I do need to be able to make sure that I can get out of this what I want to get out of this, so I’m going to talk to some people, and then we will find out from there what is possible and I will take what is possible. And I want you to be happy; I really do want you to be happy. I don’t want to leave you hanging with somebody that you don’t want. But I need to work this out for myself and I’m going to talk to some people and I have to go again, I’m sorry. But umm, I just need to get home right now. R: Yeah. J: But I will talk to you more about this. And don’t see it as change that is going to start tomorrow. I’m still devoting whatever I can to this place and I will. R: Well you are not devoting what you can, you are devoting what you want and that’s what is giving me the stomach ache. J: That’s not true. I’m devoting what I can. I’m devoting everything I can to this. Listen, let’s just leave it at this for now, and then we will just start the ball rolling and we will see what happens. Ok? R: At least we are agreed that it’s not working as a partnership. And I would much rather again, have you in my life forever, then have it come to blows. So think of that before you start pulling in other people from the outside, let’s sit down with our attorney. J: I’ll give it some thought. R: How is next Monday for you? J: Well so far I think that’s fine. R: Fine, then I will set up an appointment with Marcel for next Monday. J: Ok, alright. I will talk to you later. R: Bye. Afterthoughts R: So this was a very frustrating outcome to this meeting. There is no partnership agreement on the planet that would allow for something like that. It has gotten to a point where he feels so self absorbed that he would even propose something like that is preposterous. It’s a very delicate, tight rope to walk on. You have to figure out to fit in with the friend ship and still stand out a as business partner. It’s a very tricky relationship. Plus the fact that there is a male-female hierarchy here, I am being put in a position of almost being the mother the disciplinarian, which is not a role I fall into very easily.

Some of the most notable epidemics include the bubonic plague in the 14th century, smallpox in the 18th century, and influenza in the 20th century. Reportedly, the bubonic plague caused over 137 million deaths, whereas the death toll associated with influenza was 25 million (Ernst, 2001). These are dramatic examples of the kinds of acute outbreaks that led to the practice of epidemiology.

Many epidemiologists and health care professionals are concerned about the next potential pandemic or epidemic. With the increased mobility of society, the spread of infectious diseases continues to pose a serious threat. For this Discussion, you will investigate pandemics and epidemics using epidemiological tools, and you will consider strategies for mitigating disease outbreaks.

To prepare:

• Using the Learning Resources, consider examples of emerging or reemerging infectious diseases that are occurring locally, nationally, or abroad. Then, select one example on which to focus.
• Explore the epidemiological investigative process used to identify the emerging or reemerging infectious disease or outbreak.
• Examine your selected infectious disease using the epidemiologic triangle and vector theory.
• Consider how health care interventions may reduce the emergence or reemergence of infectious diseases.

By Day 3

Post a cohesive response that addresses the following:

• Identify the emerging or reemerging infectious disease you selected. (Salmonella or you may choose)
• Discuss the investigative process used to identify the outbreak, and describe its effect using descriptive epidemiology (person, place, and time).
• Apply the epidemiologic triangle and vector theory to your selected outbreak.
• Evaluate how prior health care interventions, or lack thereof, created the conditions that allowed this infectious disease to emerge.
• Discuss how the disease outbreak might have been avoided or mitigated. Include agencies, organizations, and resources that could have supported these efforts. If appropriate, consider ongoing efforts to control the outbreak.

E‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌ffective leaders have a high degree of self-awareness and know how to leverage their strengths in the workplace. Assessments are a valuable tool that professionals can use to learn more about themselves and consider how their temperament and preferences influence their interactions with others. As you engage in this learning process, it is important to remember that everyone—regardless of temperament type or related preferences—experiences some challenges with regard to leadership. The key to success is being able to recognize and leverage your own strengths while honoring differences among your colleagues. At some point in your leadership career, you will encounter an ethical or moral dilemma that requires you to take a stand and defend your position. For this Assignment, you evaluate an issue and consider how you could act as a moral agent or advocate, facilitating the resolution of the issue for a positive outcome. To prepare: Consider the examples of leadership demonstrated in this week’s media presentation and the other Learning Resources. To further your self-knowledge, you are required to complete the Kiersey Temperament as indicated in this week’s Learning Resources. Consider your leadership style, including your strengths for leading others and include your results from Kiersey Temperament Sorter to describe potential challenges related to your leadership style. Mentally survey your work environment, or one with which you are familiar, and identify a timely issue/dilemma‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌ that requires you to perform the leadership role of moral agent or advocate to improve a situation (e.g., speaking or acting on behalf of a vulnerable patient, the need for appropriate staffing, a colleague being treated unfairly). What ethical, moral, or legal skills, dispositions, and/or strategies would help you resolve this dilemma? Define the differences between ethical, moral, and legal leadership. Finally, consider the values and principles that guide the nursing profession; the organization’s mission, vision, and values; the leadership and management competencies addressed in this course; and your own values and reasons for entering the profession. What motivation do you see for taking a stand on an important issue even when it is difficult to do so? Introduce the conceptual frameworks of the ethical constructs of ethics, moral, or legal standards and the purpose of the paper. Consider an ethical, moral, or legal dilemma that you have encountered in your work environment and describe it. Analyze the moral, ethical, and legal implications utilized in this situation. Describe your role as a moral agent or advocate for this specific issue. Consider your leadership styles identified by your self-assessment and determine if they act as a barrier or facilitation during this dilemma. The School of Nursing requires that all papers submitted include a title page, introduction, summary, and references. The Sample Paper provided at the Walden Writing Center provides an example of those require‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌d elements.
