Description of Assessment Task (mapped to ACs)
Task Briefing Front sheet (TA04b)graded
Task 1. Critically analyse the physiological effects of exercise on the human respiratory System
and circulatory system. (lEARNING OUTCOME 1,2,3)
Write a report. Your completed work should not exceed 2200 words (+/- 10%). Use
diagrams where necessary.
• You must reference your report using the Harvard Referencing system.
• It would add quality to your work if you use references from various articles and
authors.
• Reference list should be on a separate sheet of paper. Ensure you consider the
following points:
1. Understanding of animal cell structure and function of cell organells ( nucleus,
mitochondria, rough endoplasmic reticulum and smooth endoplasmic
reticulum, cell membrane ).
2. Understanding of the anatomy of respiratory and cardio-vascular system and
the tissue types associated with them. Do not include general discussion on
tissue types; only explain tissues found in these two systems. Explain one
exocrine gland and one endocrine gland .
3. How does the heart function?
4. What are arteries and veins and how do they help a heart to function as a
pump? (Transport)
5. What do you understand by Gaseous Exchange System?
6. Cellular Respiration (A brief overview)
7. Analyse the effects of exercise on the respiratory and cardiovascular system.
TASK 2. COMPLETE WORKSHEET ON LYMPHATIC SYSYTEM.(LEARNING OUTCOME 4)

following Grade Descriptors. The GDs must be taken from the pre-established components within the QAA
Grading Scheme Handbook Section B (There are no descriptors for Pass; learners achieve a Pass by meeting all
ACs for the unit at Level3.)
Grade Descriptor To achieve a Merit: To achieve a Distinction:
Understanding of subject Describe and analyse the
STRUCTURAL features of different
types of tissues Describe the
functions and connection between
the structural features and their
respective functions of types of
tissues (epithelial, muscle, nervous,
connective).
Describe the processes involved in
cellular respiration and its importance
Write an assignment which covers all the
criteria at Merit level in an analytical and
evaluative manner (critically analysed piece of
work).
Application of
knowledge
Explain and analyse how body
systems carry out functions and how
they interrelate.
Discuss features of blood circulation
Write an assignment which covers all the
criteria at Merit level in an analytical and
evaluative manner (critically analysed piece of
work).

GD7: Quality
The student, student’s work or
performance:
a. Is structured in a way that is
